Our Executive Chef

Fred Duerr

Our Executive Chef Fred Duerr has a diverse background in culinary arts.  Duerr began his restaurant career at age 13 as a dishwasher at the former Tremont Hotel in Lansdale, PA.  From there he took on a job at Century House in Hatfield, PA, where owner Horst Herold was his mentor.  He then went on to work hand-in-hand with celebrity Chef Tell Erhardt.  In his many years with Chef Tell, Duerr learned to work hard and run a cost-efficient kitchen.

Chef Duerr's accomplishments include his "Lobster Chef Fred's Way" recipe published in Bon Appetit magazine, and chosen as "Chef des Cuisine" of the inaugural dinner for the Cayman Islands chapter of the Chaine des Rotisseurs.  Using his talents and twenty years experience, Executive Chef Duerr uses only the best food purveyors and presents an unexpected level from his kitchen, providing Rising Sun Inn with an ever-changing menu that will tantalize your palate.  His menu features healthy bison, veal, lamb, chicken, seafood, and pasta specialties.

Author Ronald Joseph Kule's latest book Chef Tell The Biography of America's Pioneer TV Showman Chef, was recently published (October 2013).  Rising Sun Inn's Executive Chef Fred Duerr was a student of Chef Tell.  Ask Fred about his time spent with his famous teacher, Chef Tell!
